We are looking for an IT Technician where you will primarily be based at the Junior School site and must be capable of providing support in line with the responsibilities outlined in this Job Description.
You will receive training in IT areas and systems used by the school and should expect to undergo performance assessments throughout the academic year.
All necessary resources required for the role will be provided by the school and will remain the property of the school, to support you in completing day-to-day tasks.
You must be able to provide support to one-to-one devices; laplets, laptops, desktop computers, printers, Interactive Screens, Multiboards, and other devices and systems the school has or will adopt. You will also provide support to shared school devices like devices in media trolleys used by small groups or whole year groups.
Training and guidance will be provided by the line manager.
🔍 Key Responsibilities
As outlined in the full Job Description, your responsibilities will include:
One-to-one devices:
- Support staff and students with technical issues on a continual basis.
- Manage ICT equipment, installing and configuring new and existing equipment.
- Set up new devices (desktops, laptops and other equipment).
- Format and reinstall operating systems.
- Ordering (tonners, hardware etc.) confirmed by the Network manager.
- Maintain hardware and run updates (computer labs, devices in media trolleys etc) so as to ensure the smooth running of devices.
- Installation of network cables and other devices (following training).
- Liaising with vendors regarding faulty hardware, support or adding new hardware (like telephones).
- Issues that the Junior technician cannot resolve will be referred to the IT technician or Network Manager as 2nd level support. If considered 1st level, then training will be given by the IT Technician or Network Manager.
- Installing licenses to machines as per instructions of Network Manager.
- Managing the assembly hall sound system of the school or other fixed sound systems the school installs.
- Supporting staff during assembly presentations or other presentations.
- Maintain accurate inventory of hardware and maintenance in the IT database.
- Repair and maintain devices up to the level approved by manufacturer warranty. Repair work to be logged in the IT service database.
- Carry out basic hardware repairs (training will be offered). More advanced repairs will be sent to the IT Technician.
Shared devices:
- Maintain the ICT Computing room devices updated.
- Provide technical support for the ICT Computing room’s devices.
- Maintain the Year Group (YG) laplet trolleys (run frequent planned updates and ensure functionality).
- Provide technical support for the Year Group (YG) laplet trolleys devices.
- Connect network devices and appliances to school’s LAN and WiFi.
- Printers
- Network switches
- APs
- Interactive Screens, Multiboards etc.
- Setup shared network printers
- Install network printers to individual JS school devices.
- Replace toners for printers.
School Support:
- Offer support during evenings when the school has events like Parent in-formation evenings, presentations, entrance exams etc.
✅ Candidate Profile
- Bachelor degree in IT related or any other relevant field
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent time management and multitasking skills
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting
- Great communicational skills in both verbal and writing
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly diagnose and resolve technical issues
- Be a team player
- Fluent in English language
- Relevant certifications in IT will be considered as advantage
- Knowledge in Microsoft Apps like Excel will be considered as advantage
- Knowledge of active directory group policies and procedures will be considered as advantage
